The term "independent city" denotes some cities in the US which are not part of any county. World Place Advisor handles this situation by not printing the word county for independent cities. An example would be: Alexandria, Virginia, United States. Versions 1.1 and earlier incorrectly label them as "Counties". TIP: If longitude and latitude are present in the results, then this is not a county and state, but a city and state
In the case of suburbs of independent cities, the term "City of" is shown in results so as not to confuse the second level place name for a county. (Algonquin Park, City Of Norfolk, Virginia, United States for example)
How are independent cities handled for US data?
