What do the red arrows mean?

Arrows sometimes appear beside boxes in my tree views. What do they mean?

 • If a solid red arrowhead is displayed beside a box, this indicates that the line of ancestors or descendants is continued.

 • If an outlined arrow appears beside a box in the ancestor view, this means that the individual had descendants not currently displayed.
